The task for the Type Book was to pick one font and highlight it. The font highlighted here is “Practical Serif” designed by Mark Caneso. The font is fun, but easy to ready and offers a lot of visual variety in terms of weight and italics.

Using Adobe Illustrator, I created a mid century modern atomic style design. Channeling the 1950s funky shapes and bold patterns, I added lots of organic silhouettes and repetition. Additionally, I paired it with a contrasting color schemes of greens and pinks. TO ensure it wasn’t difficult to read, I chose pastel versions of these otherwise bold colors.
