The “mini-zine,” or mini magazine focused on mastering editorial design. The goal was to create a mini-zine that included a variety of spreads. The variety meant article layouts, advertisements, text, and imagery.

Due to my passion for athletics, I created “The Art of Athletics.” With this theme in mind, I used a lot of my personal sports edits while incorporating text in the form of a feature article and feature interview. To get a really crisp, cohesive look I used hyphenations and justifications as well as gutters and guides. This ensured there were no large gaps in the writing and that it had a consistent flow. For the advertisements, I focused on images so it felt like they blended in with the rest of the mini-zine. Because the advertisements were image-based I utilized QR codes rather than text.
